Method 1: SmartThings App

Recommended for quick uploads from your phone

Prerequisites

  • Samsung SmartThings app installed on your phone
  • Phone and Frame TV connected to the same Wi-Fi network
  • Image resized to exact 3840 × 2160 pixels

Steps

1

Prepare your image

Resize to exactly 3840 × 2160 pixels using a resizing tool. Save as JPEG or PNG format.

2

Open SmartThings app

Launch the app on your smartphone and select your Samsung Frame TV from your devices.

3

Access Art Mode

Tap on "Art Mode" option, then select "Add Your Photos +".

4

Upload your image

Browse your photo albums, select the image(s) you want to upload, then tap "Save on The Frame".

5

Configure display settings

Select "Create Mat" or "No Mat" based on preference. Adjust mat style and color if desired, then tap "Set" to display.

Method 2: USB Drive

Most reliable for batch uploads

Prerequisites

  • USB flash drive (FAT32 or exFAT formatted)
  • Computer with image editing capability
  • Images resized to 3840 × 2160 pixels

Steps

1

Prepare images on your computer

Resize all images to exactly 3840 × 2160 pixels. Save as JPEG files and strip all metadata (EXIF data, color profiles).

2

Copy to USB drive

Connect USB drive to computer, copy your prepared image files to the drive, then safely eject.

3

Connect to Frame TV

Insert USB drive into the USB port on the One Connect Box. Turn on The Frame TV and switch to Art Mode.

4

Import images

Press Down on remote to navigate to "My Collection". Select the USB device to see all images on the drive.

5

Save to TV

Highlight the images you want to save, press Up and select "Save Selected". Do not remove USB while images are saving.

6

Access saved images

Navigate to My Collection → My Photos. Your imported images are now stored on the TV.

Method 3: AirPlay

For iPhone & Mac users - quick display

Note: This method displays photos in real-time but doesn't save them to the TV's Art Mode storage. Best for temporary display or previewing artwork.

Prerequisites

  • Samsung Frame TV (2018 or newer)
  • iPhone, iPad, or Mac
  • Both devices on the same Wi-Fi network
  • AirPlay enabled on the TV

Steps

1

Enable AirPlay on TV

Go to Settings → General → Apple AirPlay Settings. Turn AirPlay on and set your "Require Code" preference.

2

From iPhone/iPad

Open the Photos app, find your photo, tap the Share icon, tap "AirPlay", select your Frame TV, and enter the code if prompted.

3

From Mac

Open the image in Preview or Photos, click the AirPlay icon in the menu bar, and select your Frame TV.

Troubleshooting

"No Mat" Option Not Appearing

Cause: Image not exactly 3840 × 2160 pixels

  • Re-export at precisely 3840 × 2160 (no fractional pixels)
  • Use "Resize Image" not "Scale" in editing software
  • Try MS Paint on Windows (most reliable)
  • Strip all metadata (EXIF, color profiles)
  • Use PNG with sRGB color profile
  • Upload via USB instead of SmartThings app

SmartThings App Connection Issues

  • Ensure TV and phone are on same Wi-Fi network
  • Restart both TV and phone
  • Restart your router
  • Uninstall and reinstall SmartThings app
  • Try USB method as alternative

AirPlay Not Working

  • Verify AirPlay is enabled: Settings → General → Apple AirPlay Settings
  • Restart TV, phone, and router
  • Check for software updates on both devices
  • Reset Smart Hub: Settings → Support → Device Care → Self Diagnosis → Reset Smart Hub (PIN: 0000)

Images Look Pixelated

Cause: Low resolution source image

  • Use source images at least 3840 pixels wide
  • Avoid heavily compressed JPEGs
  • Use PNG format for best quality
  • Source from high-resolution art websites
